Know Your Zone
The City of Chesapeake, together with Virginia and other coastal communities, has developed a plan for evacuating residents who will be in harm's way should a hurricane strike. This system makes it easier to know when approaching hurricane puts your home at risk.
Do you know your zone? If not, visit the Know Your Zone site to find out. Make sure your whole family is aware. Make a plan for if your zone is evacuated.
Have a family plan
Don't wait for a hurricane or other natural disaster to strike, make a plan today. The more familiar your family is with the plan, the more prepared they will be to fulfill their roles if the time comes. Make a plan that is right for you, your family, and your circumstances. Have a kit in your house for emergencies and make sure everyone knows where it is located.
